To Our Prayer Force,

Â

For over 40 years, we’ve sat at literature tables. Not surprisingly, this semester we’ve talked to more gays & transgenders than ever before. After we talk, tears often well up in my eyes (cf. Luke 19:41 – Jesus wept over Jerusalem), as the students are so desperately in need of special and  common grace. While dialoguing about morality, I sometimes ask questions such as, “Who gets to decide if Putin’s actions are right or wrong – Putin or you & me – or  a Transcendent Value Setter who, alone, possesses the objective authority to define “morality?”

Â

We’ve also dialogued with several Jewish students: ASSAF, ANDREW, CHARLIE, Z, ALISSA, JAKE, BRIANNA & ROBERT. I frequently like to initiate, “The Hebrew Bible says that the Jews ‘will look on [the Messiah] who they have pierced’ (Ps. 22; Isa. 52; Zech.12). Jesus’ hands, feet & side were pierced, & that’s one of the many reasons why I believe that Jesus is the Messiah.”

Â

Last week, SOPHIA, which means “lover of wisdom,” stopped by our lit table. Ironically, her major is philosophy which also means “lover of wisdom.” I told her: “I like that philosophy studies life’s sine qua non questions. However, whereas philosophy is ‘forever inquiring, it’s never able to arrive at/grasp the truth’ (2 Tim. 3:7). Thankfully, the Bible gives the  antidote: ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ…’” (Acts 16:31). Sophia was very receptive!

Â

After reading our previous Prayer Letters, some of you have commented that you can finally pronounce one  of the Chinese names: “ITCHY.” He continues to bring students to our Bible studies including MAGGIE who is a one-year-old Christian, SIM (from Malaysia) & DEMi (from Nigeria). CAROLE, CONGLi, EPHON, ARIA, RAY & JB attend frequently, yet they’re still unsaved.

Â

So far, we’ve invited the following people to our church’s Easter breakfast & church service: 1) (Unsaved) LEON & his wife, YING (from China). Two years ago, Ying became a Christian. Every week, Nancy teaches Bible stories to Ying & her kids. 2) (Unsaved) JOSEA & his wife, FERNANDA (from Brazil). A year ago, Fernanda became a Christian. 3) (Unsaved) YUFEI & CiCY (from China); every week they work through our “That You May Believe” Bible studies in the Gospel of John. 4) (Young Christians): TEXAN & SOYOUNG (from Korea). Every week Nancy teaches Bible stories to Soyoung & her sons. 5) JAIR (from Mexico) & FABIANA (from Chile). Before Jair began his PhD at CU, Jair played the drums where Benny Hinn is the pastor in Houston. 6) (Unsaved) CASSiE & her husband (from China). 7) (Unsaved) EPHON & his friend, ARIA (from China). Last week, Ephon accepted a full-ride scholarship to Harvard U – to earn a PhD in physics.

Â

(Fast forward), in November I’m hoping to fly to Zambia, Africa. One of my good friends, Don Hall, was a pastor at a church in Metro Denver. Now Don is a missionary in Kitwe, Zambia, & he recently emailed me: “ …Central Africa Baptist University and our church are interested in expanding our college ministry to the Copperbelt University, located literally next door to our campus. Would you be interested in taking a trip to visit us and give us both instruction and practice in engaging apologetically? The campus is wide open to both evangelism and discipleship, but the younger generation is beginning to turn toward secularism and moral relativism. There would be excellent opportunities to engage in the kinds of table talks that you use on the Boulder campus.” My administrator with Baptist Mid-Missions enthusiastically gave me the green light. Providentially, our church supports a missionary in Kitwe, & some people from our church are planning to go with me to encourage her.

Â

To say the least, “… God keeps [us] occupied with joy in [our] hearts” (Eccles. 5:20). Thank you for your prayers. We desperately  need them!
