Stephen and Evelyn Stilwell’s Prayer Letter

Missionaries to Peru, S. A

Here we are in the month of March.  February disappeared with so many families and churches digging out their houses and buildings after having rains here in the coastal desert of Peru.  Many had to buy water from a truck, which, went sky high in price because water mains were destroyed.  They did not have water from the street to wash their clothes and to clean their houses.  It has been a rough month for many of our church families.  Because of the rains and flooding, the Seminary and many schools started late, and some will have to make up time on Saturdays.

Stephen and Martha are teaching their classes in the seminary.  I am keeping the home front going, but the Lord gives me visitors to counsel and to encourage.  I am doing most of the cooking even though it is tiring.  Each week is a little easier and better.

Praise the Lord for our new students this year. We have three second generation students, which is a blessing, and we pray they will all be faithful servants for the Lord in the classroom and on weekends in the Trujillo churches and in the years to come.

Stephen was finally able to go to camp last week and work on the new camp chapel.  The flooding had made the road impassable plus there were a few large light poles that were taken down due to the flooding, which made the whole area without electricity for several days.

The Lord has given the seminary the funds to redo their chapel roof, which made a lot of noise when the wind would blow and, also would let in water when it rained.  Yesterday Stephen took two students with him to help buy lumber (which is a long process) as it is too much for him anymore to lug around the large timbers by himself.  So little by little that roof will go up, too.  Stephen will have several students to teach, so they can do the work.  We are thankful for each one of them.

Our Maranatha Baptist Church, which is a daughter work of Victory Baptist Church, is working on their legal papers, so we can buy property.  We have our eye on a piece of property that has not been sold, yet.  So, we trust God is saving it for the church!

We thank you for another month of upholding us and the ministries here in prayer.
