In this Prayer and Praise we request prayer for two specific, difficult needs. These needs concern India and Liberia.

India
Our Agape partners are experiencing significant difficulty in receiving the funds we sent in March. Our bank account in India is currently in “Prior Approval Required” status. This means the Indian government is looking into the funds we sent and that these funds…or any new funds…will not be released for use until the inquiry is concluded successfully. This type of inquiry is not unusual for associations in India. They are, however, infrequent and do not usually take this long.
Please pray that the funds will be released soon. This affects our childcare ministry as well as Logos College construction, Logos operating needs, church planting, etc.

Important News about Liberia Ministry
For about twenty years BCH has partnered with the Baptist Child Care Foundation (BCCF) to care for children in Liberia. In the past three months we have become concerned about the accuracy of reports that we received from our Liberian partners. This concern led to a diminishing sense of trust in them. Despite research, prayer, emails, report revisions, and a discussion with the BCCF leadership, etc., our confidence in our partners in ministry in Liberia could not be restored.
At the end of March 2023, the BCH board voted to discontinue our partnership with the BCCF in Liberia immediately. This was a difficult but imperative decision. Because the problems included financial concerns, we were not able to send any more funds for the care of children. During the past 2 ½ weeks we have explored any possible way to continue to serve the children previously in our care. Due to the nature of the partnership and the loss of trust, we believe that is impossible. Likewise, we have explored continuing ministry in Liberia, but in a different partnership. On Friday, April 14, 2023, the BCH board voted to discontinue ministry in Liberia.
This ministry news is no doubt surprising and disappointing. We have grieved each step of the process. Taking this step was essential to functioning with integrity in ministry. The gifts from our friends and churches must be handled with great care and judicious discernment. Ensuring proper use of funding is non-negotiable for us. So, though we are sad to close this chapter of ministry, we know that God will provide care for the children formerly in our care, and that He is refining us in our care for children.
I am happy to discuss any questions you may have and will follow up with a letter to our friends and churches. Please pray for our BCH ministry during this challenging experience. Also, please continue to pray for our families and children in our other international locations: The Dominican Republic, Haiti, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Zambia.
