About the Speaker

Our guest speaker will be Pastor John Woodford from Good News Baptist Church (Sioux City, IA). If you aren’t familiar with Pastor Woodford, you can read his introduction below:

Hi, I am John Woodford, pastor of Good News Baptist Church, Sioux City; I have served them the last 12 years. God saved me at the age of five, after hearing John 3:16 and asking about the verse week after week. I planned on being the eleventh generation in the family to be a dairyman but was gripped by Mark 8:36 and my friends going to Hell and the need to share the hope I had in Christ with others. I sold my cows to my dad, went to Faith Baptist Bible College, and graduated in 2005. God graced me with a wonderful wife, Tara, I met at Faith, and we graduated with our master’s degrees, were married, and started a pastoral internship under church planter, Brad Hoff, all in 2007. Today we have three little munchkins that daily bring rejoicing to our hearts: Anna (8), Joshua (5), and Abigail (2). I currently serve on the board of Raccoon River Bible Camp and the IARBC Counsel of Ten.

Conference Overview

The services during the conference will focus on Ruth and Job. Pastor Woodford shares more below about why these books are so important for our hearts and our homes:

My burden is to minister the Book of Ruth and some lessons from Job at the Heart and Home Conference. Ruth challenges us to raise our children, lead our families, and care for our loved ones with a committed love like God’s unfailing love. Job challenges us to address grief as God’s invitation to trust Him with a commendable faith. Having lost my mom as a boy and, then, my second mom as a young adult, I would like to share some applications my dad and I learned through these Scriptures. Good News Baptist Church is praying for you and these messages as we go through the narratives verse-by-verse.
