so much of the entrance into Canaan is counter intuitive. 1. Kill the established leader and give them new leadership. 2. put the divine oracle out ahead and unprotected. 3. Plan to cross a flooded River with millions of people, 4.cross into enemy territory and then circumcise every man. 5. stop providing food and cause the people to forage in the field. 6. quietly march around Jericho for seven days.

What do these things teach us but that it is all about God leading his people. God is the leader not Moses or Joshua, God needs no protection, God is to be followed not directed or preserved. He is able to protect and provide for his people when they put him first. He grants the victory by winning it for us then calling us to the spoils. The first victory was His and His alone but then Israel took a part, fought for and received their inheritance. Jesus Christ must win the first victory in our lives, Salvation. Then we can and should fight for our inheritance, those golden crowns to be cast at our saviors feet.

We also learn that Gods ways are not our ways, they are actually far better.
