March 2021

Dear Praying Friends,

Our gracious God continues to open doors for us to share the Gospel:

Â

A few months ago, FERNANDA (from Brazil) became a Christian. When Nancy teaches her the Gospel of John via Zoom, Nancy can hear Fernanda’s husband, JOSE, in the background. That has to mean that Jose can hear what they’re talking about. And it also means that he can hear Fernanda’s enthusiasm as she responds. Recently, when Fernanda read Jesus’ words, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her” (in John 8), Fernanda was impressed with Jesus, & she wants to be more like Jesus!

Â

A few months ago, SOORIN & her daughter, NOORi, became Christians. They & SOYOUNG KA & HER FAMILY (also from Korea) continue to faithfully attend our church. Please pray that God will save Soorin’s husband, JUN, & daughter, GOWN.

Â

Last Saturday, EPHON (from China) & I went to a car show. (See attached pic.) Afterwards, Ephon asked me if he could drive my car, because it has a clutch. After that harrowing, near-death experience (not really), we met CASEY (whose major is biology) & CU Aerospace Prof, JEFF THAYER (who knows Ephon’s physics Prof). I later texted them, “BTW, if you ever have questions about God or the Bible, feel free to holler. I frequently sit in the Student Union & kindly dialogue with students & profs about life’s sine qua non questions: ‘Where did I come from?’ ‘Why am I here?’ ‘Where am I going?’ – questions that biology & aerospace can’t answer; only God can & has.”

Â

Every week, Nancy teaches ESL (English as a Second Language) to SENRY (which rhymes with Henry). Senry is a 23-year-old student from Japan. Recently, Nancy initiated a conversation about “holidays.” That segued into Nancy inviting Senry to our church’s Easter service whereupon Senry lit up! Senry then said that she may bring her whole family! Speaking of Easter, our oldest daughter & family are inviting (unsaved) former U of Iowa Philosophy Prof, EVAN FALES, & his WIFE to their home for dinner. 20+ years ago, I shared the Gospel with Evan.

Â

The names of the students who attend most of our bi-weekly Tea Times are: WUXIA, XiA & LEA (from China), SOORIN (from Korea), FERNANDA (from Brazil), ATSUKO, SENRY, AZUSA & MADOKO (from Japan).

Â

Please pray for open hearts & witnessing opportunities with students who attend our English Conversation classes: YOUSSEF & SANA (from Pakistan), SOORIN, SOYOUNG KA & SOYOUNG JU (from Korea), JUN, CICY, CASSIE & LEA (from China), ANJU (from India) & NORA (from Egypt). Recently, CASSIE asked us, “What is the meaning of the phrase, ‘Welcome to our little slice of hell?’” (which she heard on “Friends”). That enabled us to explain that hell is a very hot place; & it’s where people will go if they don’t believe in Jesus….

Â

A couple days ago, we met ANISSA. She’s from Texas, & her major at CU is Integrated Physiology. Next week we’re planning to get together with her, & we hope to share the Gospel with her.

Â

Because I’m preaching at our church this Sunday, I’m planning to invite several people….

Â

Your effective, fervent prayers avail much (James 5:16)!
