Reaching Latinos for Christ

Dear Prayer Partner,                                                                                           Â

Dariel (35-Cuba) woke up on a June Sunday morning and said to his wife Mey,  “Get ready. We are going to church.” She had come for about 7 months on her own last year but he had not.  He is a truck driver so he is only home on Sundays very sporadically. Mey in a bit of shock got herself and her 16 month old boy ready for church. They arrived 1 hour before church starts and realized they were early; he decided not to go home (only 3 miles from church) because he was afraid he would get comfortable and not go back. We had family visiting from Iowa that weekend for David’s graduation. Talitha’s father had the opportunity to chat with Dariel before church and share his salvation testimony.  After the service, Dariel went forward and Dario had the opportunity to lead him to the Lord.  We don’t have a clue what prompted this man to go to church that day but we do know that God is in the business of bringing people to Him!Â

Pray God will work out his schedule to be in church more often and find time for personal discipleship. For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. II Corinthians 6:2

Did you pray for Rashell (12), one of Cristian and Perla’s 3 daughters (Argentina)? Praise the Lord she made a profession of faith in Sunday School, June 11th.  Thankfully this family of 5 have become more faithful over the last few months. Also, we are so glad our neighbors Jhon and Patricia (Colombia) have come several more times to church. Estela (El Salvador) has brought her next door neighbor 2 Sundays in a row. Her name is Maria Rosa (76 -Cuba) when we asked her what church she had attended in Cuba, she said “None!” in her entire life! We could hardly believe our ears. She sings as loud as she can even though she doesn’t know a single chorus or hymn! We are excited to see what God does in her heart. Pray for Maria Rosa, Jhon and Patricia salvation. The graduation, mother’s day, father’s day, youth camp and teen 4th of July party were a success and we made some more connections. Also, we are thankful for the help we had canvassing the area and doing the food pantry a few weeks ago. Pray that God will open more doors and bring people to Him.

It was wonderful to see Emilia (20) again! We hadn’t seen her since she went off to college two years ago and she just randomly called to see how she could help at church; it was a true joy to see the girl, who once was 16 and struggling in many areas of her life, come full circle! She is now dating a Christian young man and studying to help others. Anahi (60s – Venezuela) also hadn’t been to church for many months; so glad to see her again on Father’s day.

Thank God for 25 years of marriage we celebrated in May! Sophia, Michelle and David will be headed to Bob Jones University and are traveling in multiple cars August 8-12 from TX to SC with a few stops along the way; Pray for safe travels and the big transition for David (first time leaving home). Pray for our family’s health in general, thank you!
