Dear Praying Friends,
Â
This week, 36k Gen Z, iConsumer, intexticated “Buffaloes†are stampeding the U of Colorado! So we’re “living†at CU. For example, this minute we’re sitting at a literature table & displaying the question, “Searching for God at CU?” Some of our Christian Chinese students are planning to sit with us as well. And JOSH (from Iowa), who I’ve asked you to pray for in previous letters, is planning to sit with us again. Josh isn’t a Christian, though he continues to attend our Friday night Bible study.
Â
KUMiKO also attends our Bible study every Friday night. She’s from Japan & was Buddhist & Shinto (a nature religion). But b/c she wanted to believe that there’s a God, she converted to Islam. She was quick to tell us that she/Muslims believe in Jesus. A couple weeks ago, we discussed another one of Jesus’ audacious “I AM” claims: “I am the way…â€. We explained that Jesus is the perfect mediator, b/c He’s fully God & fully man (which Islam rejects). After our Bible study, Kumiko stays for the dinner as well as the Bible study in Chinese, as she providentially wants to learn Chinese. Last Friday, Kumiko’s husband (from Colombia) attended his first time. He recently “converted†to Islam, but, I think, only b/c his wife influenced him.
Â
ANDRES (a Pantheist – from Colombia) also continues to attend our Friday night Bible study. Last Friday, he asked about a Netflix Documentary, “Unknown: Cave of Bones;†it’s about humans who lived 250k years ago. Nancy then replied that dating methods can be skewed. I kindly countered, “If humans lived 250k years ago, then humans had to wait 248k years before Jesus died on the cross.†(I filched that argument from Christopher Hitchens who [was] an ardent evolutionist.) Two days ago, I invited Andres to our church, & he replied, “When?†And I replied, “How about this Sunday?†Please pray that Andres’ wife, JACKiE, will also come to our church this Sunday. See attached pic.
Â
Last weekend, I providentially met 4 students from India &, yesterday, I providentially bumped into them again. They told me that they’re planning to attend our Bible study this Friday night. I’m planning to invite them, also, to our church. Two of them are “Christians†(whatever that means in India), & two are Hindus.
Â
Nancy is continuing to teach Bible studies to YiNG & her 3 kids (from China) and to her students from Korea: MiJi & her 2 kids, KYUNGA & her 2 kids, and JUN (who tells his family what they talked about). Nancy is also continuing to teach ESL (English as a Second Language) to students from Afghanistan, China, Korea, Japan, Jordan, Ukraine & Belarus.
