Prayer & Praise

September 2023
Thank you for your faithful prayer for our children and caregivers. We are pleased to welcome Pastor Wayne Manago to lead us in prayer and praise this month. Pastor Wayne and Priscilla are on our staff and represent BCH at churches and conferences.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for Baptist Children’s Home. We thank you for the children that you’ve given us to be under our care. We also pray for Linda Brooks, our President, for wisdom and direction as she makes decisions about this ministry.

We pray for the Myanmar Grace Home, for Grace and Kim, for Grace’s arm for healing; we pray for Your will to be done in Kim and her health and future. We thank you for their brother and the tremendous help he has been in the home. We thank you for their new home, and we pray that you might use this to be an encouragement to them.

VBS Praise!

We are so thankful for the children who gave to our 2023 “Sweet Dreams” VBS project. Thank you to the children and parents who raised more than $40,000 for our children’s bedtime needs. This project will help hundreds of our children have safe and “sweet” rest. You have blessed our children, and we are thankful.  We have been sending out the funds for the “Sweet Dreams” VBS project. Welcome Home!

After much anticipation, the Grace Family in Myanmar has moved into their new home! The children are overjoyed. Many, many thanks to special friends who made this dream come true.

Last week I had a video call with the Grace Home. Grace and Kim appreciate your prayers. Grace’s arm is healing very slowly. She does not have much movement in it. Kim asks for prayer for her health. She is mostly confined to her bed, but she had a bright smile and was to happy to video with us. Their brother, Hao, is a tremendous help.

Special Need

Flu Shots

Pastor Lian in Myanmar has informed us that the flu season is in full swing. The flu, combined with mosquitos from excessive rain, means the children have been coming home from school sick with the flu and fevers. When 62 children live in one home, the flu spreads quickly!

We need help to provide flu shots to all our children in Myanmar. Can you help? Each shot is about $20, and we need to provide 70 flu shots.

Help Today

Hira Lal and Biraj

NEPAL

Please pray for our Shiloh home. We have added two new boys. Biraj and Hira Lal. Sadly, Sujita and Smriti have returned to their father. When we took them into care, no family wanted the girls. We are concerned for their safety at their home, but we could not prevent their father from taking them. Please pray.

ZAMBIA

Our partners are interviewing a new family to add to our two homes in Zambia. Please pray for wisdom that we will assess for whom God would have us care. Granny Jeni is having health issues. We are looking for assistance for her in caring for the children.

Great news! China, Jeni’s little grandson with the problem walking, “Windswept Leg” has an appointment at a hospital in Lusaka next week to be evaluated for surgery. We will keep you updated on his progress. His is a story that keeps unfolding. He was abandoned to Granny Jeni’s (and our) care last Christmas. I am reminded of Psalm 27:10 – “When my father and mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me.” If he had not been abandoned, he would likely not have had the opportunity to be evaluated for life-changing surgery. Please pray with us. Since he came into our care, it has been my prayer that he would be able to walk, run, and play without pain.

Our families in Myanmar and NE India remain safe despite war in both areas. When we were talking with Grace, we learned that a taxi driver had been shot and killed near their home. These are difficult times for our children and families.

Thank you so much for joining us on this journey.
