DISCIPLESHIP AND THE LOCAL CHURCH

“So he [Apollos] began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.” (Acts 18:26 NKJV)

We’ve been on furlough for two months now, and I wanted to share something that I’ve been thinking about as I reflect on ministry in Colombia and in the United States.

Are you using your gifts to help others grow in their faith? Aquila and Priscilla weren’t as eloquent as Apollos, but they were able to help him understand Scripture better. We can be tempted to think that we are faithful church members if we just attend all of the services, but God wants each of us to be sharing the gospel and helping others take their next steps of faith. Discipleship is key, and it’s more than attendance or a church program. It’s using your spiritual gifts to assist others in their spiritual lives.

“Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them…” (Romans 12:6 NKJV)

BUILDING PROGRAM

Pastor Alfredo has been praying for and promoting the need for the Impacto Bíblico Baptist church to purchase a building for many years. A building is available right in front of the current location, and the owner is willing to negotiate a deal in which the church would give a down payment and then continue to pay for the building monthly. The current building capacity is maxed out at 130, but this building would allow the church to have more than 350 people in attendance.

Owning a building would free up valuable resources for church planting and missions. We have shared this project with our sending churches and more than $6,400 have already been raised. MEALS MINISTRY

The church shared free clothes, a hot meal and the gospel with many people this month. The majority of these people are Venezuelans who work on the streets selling trinkets, coffee or working odd jobs.
