Dear Praying Friends,
Â
This year is starting off as hopeful as any of our years in campus ministry. And we believe that’s, in part, b/c many of you are faithfully praying for us!
Â
Over the past 10 years, I’ve talked to MERLE “here a little, there a little†(Isa. 28:10). A couple weeks ago, I told him that I gave an overview of the OT at my church – in 10 minutes. He was shocked, so I proceeded to narrate my “Trek thru the OT.†Merle is Jewish, & he filled in the blanks as I went: “Abraham had a son; his name was – ‘Isaac’†… “The 2 Southern Tribes were taken into captivity in – ‘586 B.C.’†I then gave him my handout which lists 30 of the Messianic prophecies that Jesus fulfilled. Please pray that Merle will bow his knee to Messiah/King Jesus!
Â
(Speaking of Jewish outreach), last week, a Jewish student talked to us. I initiated, “Are you aware that the Hebrew Bible says in 3 places – that the Messiah would be pierced?†He replied, “No, for me, Judaism is primarily cultural.†I then asked, “I assume that you celebrate the Passover – culturally?†He replied, “Yes.†I then talked about how the blood from the innocent lamb prefigured Jesus’ blood which must be applied to the doorframe of our hearts, so that the death angel will “pass over†us. (I didn’t ask him what his name is.)
Â
A couple weeks ago, (unsaved) Andres (from Colombia) & (unsaved) WiLLiE (from Bolivia) went to the car show in Lafayette w/ my dad & me. (See pic below.) Also, (unsaved) HANON & I have eaten together, twice. Over the summer, Hanon visited his mom in China, & he now has a girlfriend. He asked me what the Bible says about certain moral issues, & I kindly argued for the practicality of God’s moral standards.
Â
Last year, I played basketball w/ (unsaved) CAM several times. Last week, he sat beside me at my lit table & told me that he recently read some from the Bible that I gave him last semester.
Â
BOBBY is a middle-aged man. He argued against about everything that I said, for ex., original sin. I kindly argued that my grandchildren are sinners. & I continued to argue pragmatically – that I’ve been satisfied w/ Jesus for more than 60 years, that I’ll see my (deceased) mom again, etc.
Â
BREETi (from India) asked what our lit table was about & said that she’s Catholic. I showed her Eph. 2:8,9. I also invited her to our Bible study on Fridays, & she took a flier.
Â
JOANNA said that she has lots of questions about religion. I explained our [Jesus is the] “Bridge†tract. She then took some of our literature & a flier that advertises our Bible studies.
Â
Nancy would appreciate prayer as she builds friendships with students in her ESL (English as a Second Language) class: AYAKO & YOSHIKO (from Japan), TOBA, (from Afghanistan), & CASSANDRA (from Mexico).     Please pray, too, that God will work in the lives of the moms & their kids who attend Nancy’s Bible story classes on Zoom: YING, PETER, TONY & JOY (from China) & MIJI, SOYOON, UCHEN, KYUNGA, HAJUN, CHLOE, SOYOUNG, JUCHAN & JUN (all from Korea). Also, pray for God to save JUN’S family; each week, Jun tells his family what they talked about in their Bible study!
Â
This past Friday night, the following people attended: JOSH (not a Christian), ELLiE (who visited our church last Sun.) & TRENT (all 3 from the U.S.), KUMiKO (from Japan) & her husband (from Bolivia) (they’re both Muslims), RANiTA (who is attending our church) & her friend who is a Hindu (from India), RUTH & her daughter, PAULA (who wants us to give her a Bible) (from Bolivia), ITCHY (from China) brought DAMi (from Nigeria), CHAUN (from Singapore; & he’s attending our church), & NADA & her parents, ALI & ZAHRA (from Iran). (I can’t think of any other way to share the Gospel w/ people who live in Iran – than via university outreach.) I explained our [Jesus Is the] “Bridge†banner.
