Dear Praying Friends

Â

Thanks, in part, to your “fervent” prayers (James 5:17), our sovereign God continues to open doors for us to take the “eternal Gospel to every nation and tribe and language and people” (Rev. 14:6). Some examples include:

Â

Over the past couple years, we’ve taught English & Bible to ANDRES (from Colombia), & he & his wife, JACKiE, visited our church once. Last week, they invited us to their home for Tilapia [see pic] that Andres raised in his aquaponic aquarium. While eating, Andres told us that he landed a job in Miami, &, this past Sunday, they moved there. Please pray for their salvation.

Â

In our August Prayer Letter, we wrote that THOMAS talked to us at our literature table. Last Spring, he graduated from Aquinas U., & I challenged him on various Catholic teachings. Last week he kindly argued that Jesus subliminally instituted the Eucharist in John 6. Please pray that Thomas will, metaphorically, “eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood” (John 6:53).

Â

MARCUS also spends a lot of time talking to us at our lit table. I’m sure that he’s a Christian, as he continues to read the Word!

Â

A couple weeks ago, I heard AUR (which means “light” in Hebrew / Gen. 1:3) speaking in Hebrew to his Jewish friends from Israel. So I initiated a conversation (John 4:7) by asking: “In Israel, do they celebrate the Passover?” Aur replied, “Yes.” So I then asked: “But do they put the blood of a lamb on their doorposts?” He replied, “No.” I then told him that we Christians believe that we must have Jesus’ blood over the doorframe of our hearts so that the death angel will “pass over” us. Aur also told me that Jews don’t believe in heaven or hell. So I showed him Daniel 12:2: “many … will awake, some to everlasting life, & some to shame & everlasting contempt.” He replied, “I need to read the prophets more.”

Â

A couple weeks ago, two postdoc students, JEAN & D.Q. (from China) attended our Friday night outreach for their first time. D.Q. told Nancy & me that most Chinese are atheists & then asked how we know that God exists. The next day, D.Q. emailed us: “I want to ask you lots of Bible questions when you two are available.” Well, later today, D.Q. is planning to meet with us!

Â

Last week, McKENNA sat down beside us at our lit table & told us that she’s a Christian, but she has doubts. The next day, she attended our Friday night Bible study & told us that she wants to live for the Lord!

Â

Nancy has Bible studies on Zoom with the following moms & their kids (who have returned to S. Korea): SOYOUNG & her kids, KYUNGA & her kids, & MIJI & her kids. (Sometimes Nancy sees the husbands walking around in the background, so we’re praying that some of them are also hearing the Bible stories.) Also, please pray for 15-year-old JUN (who has also returned to Korea), as he shares with his unsaved family what we discussed in our Bible study via Zoom.

Â

Nancy is also continuing to have great opportunities, as she has a Bible study with her ESL students: LIXI, SILVIA, & LIYING (from China), MUNSUK (S. Korea), TINA (Taiwan), NATSUKI & MICHI (Japan), SUSANA (Mexico), ISABEL (Argentina), LARYSA (Belarus), PAULAMI (India), NADIA (Russia) & TUBA & MARYUM (Muslims from Afghanistan). The only one who may be a Christian is Isabel. Lixi is very faithful at coming to Bible studies but is still not a Christian. None of the other ladies had ever heard the Gospel. In a month, we’re planning to invite these ladies, along with their families, into our home for a Thanksgiving dinner!
