Dear Prayer Partner,
This is Talitha here to tell a story that God placed on my heart.
I realize that so many times people think “oh, you have to have a special calling and all these special talents to witness to others and that is not the case! God uses ordinary people just like you and me! We are like filthy rags and He still can use us to glorify Him!
At 16 years old Dario and I met at a Bible youth camp in Argentina; where both of us dedicated our lives to the Lord in whatever He may have for us; not even knowing we would one day end up married and serving Him together! God was molding us at a young age and we were both surrounded by godly people who impacted us for Christ (Dario was in Rosario 4 hours north of where I grew up in Buenos Aires-15 million). In Dario’s little town of one million people, he was in a Catholic school since his parents were devout to that religion, at 8 yrs old that all changed. His parents were saved along with him and his brother. The missionary trained the new believers to share the gospel with everyone and Dario along with about 10 other young people would go out for hours on Saturdays to the city plaza and lead people to Christ that same day! They were not ashamed of the gospel for it is POWER. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” Romans 1:16Â
Not many years later he was helping his dad start a new church plant. I have observed over the years, whether it be Argentina, Iowa, Pennsylvania or Texas, how Dario takes every opportunity God gives him, even if he is tired that day, to share the gospel clearly. He is so patient with people and kind with his words (not the “shove it down your throat” kind of evangelism). I have always admired that about my husband (and may I mention my father also had this quality as a missionary for 30 years in Argentina; who taught his children to have the same aspiration to serve God through evangelism and discipleship!). I wish I could say that I take every opportunity, as I have witnessed Dario and my dad, but I do remember like it was yesterday when we just wanted to serve God however He may ask us to and dedicated our lives to Him saying: “yo quiero serle útil a Dios!” translated: “I want to be useful for God!” the camp theme that year. Matt 16:24 “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.”
That passion for souls was passed down to us from our fathers who serve God and set an example. Dario and I just can’t stand to think that the person beside us may be headed to hell. We know God has chosen who is or isn’t going to heaven but we are inclined to do our duty of sharing with whomever crosses our path whether it be a 30 minute chat or just a swift 30 seconds handing someone a tract and asking them to read it. No one said it was easy but no one said it was hard either. Try it for yourself you will see! “Be a missionary every day…tell the world that Jesus is the way!” We sing this many Sundays in our church with the adults and children.
We are getting our 150 Christmas gospel tracts ready to hand out with candy canes this December (as it is a family tradition). We’d love to hear from you about how God is using you in your little part of the world! Please write us at dtchiesa@gmail.com
Pray that people will come to Christ through these gospel tracts. Pray for the men and women we have been in contact lately for their salvation and for the growth of new believers.Â
