A special gift in memory and honor of Harold Davis

Dear friends,

I realize that I wrote a prayer letter last week, but I just received word from a friend of ABWE of a special offering that will be given in memory and honor of my father-in-law, Harold Davis.

Harold served the Lord faithfully here in Colombia until he was called home to heaven on March 11, 1993, at the age of 39. I never met him, but many Colombians have given testimony over the years of the impact that he had on their lives.

He wasn’t able to see what God did through his work, but God has blessed! He helped the Tunal Baptist Church buy an old theater building. I went to the church for the first time in 1996, when about 50 people were meeting in an upper room of the building. Today, the Tunal Baptist Church fills the main auditorium; they have produced a number of pastors and missionaries and have planted churches in different parts of Colombia. Their long-time pastor, Ricardo Moreno, is currently planting a new church in Cali.

Harold died more than 31 years ago, but his legacy lives on.

This anonymous donor wanted to honor the memory of Harold Davis by giving a special gift towards the Impacto Biblico Baptist Church project with ABWE. He is willing to match all gifts that are given between now and May 1st, up to $10,000.

Those of you who have followed our ministry over the years know that we normally don’t talk about money too much; we are inadequate for this type of project, but God is great and mighty! With the donations from this special gift in addition to the pledges that have already been made, this project could be nearing completion! Our faith faltered at times, but God has been faithful.
