Dear Praying Friends,
Â
After reading last month’s Prayer Letter, some of you, after being shocked that I had written a – brief – Prayer Letter, replied sarcastically. So, now, everyone gets punished: no more brief Prayer Letters!
Â
In our previous Letter, I told you that I was scheduled to preach my Trek thru the O.T. at South Boulder Bible Church, & that we had invited ?30 people. Well, thank you for praying, as several families visited: WiLLiE & his wife, RUTH, & their kids, PAULA & MATiAS (from Bolivia); JiHOON & his wife, KYUNGA, & their kids, HAJiN & CLOE; MARCUS (from Ohio), iTCHY (from China), & STEVE (who I play basketball with; he’s 6’8â€).
Â
(To add details to the aforementioned people) – over the past couple years, Willie’s family has attended our Bible studies, & they always interact enthusiastically; though we don’t know if they’re Christians.     Over the past couple years, Nancy has taught the Bible to Kyunga & her kids; (and they ask astute questions like, “Did that really happen?â€) During (that Sunday) dinner, Kyunga told us that her mom & grandmother are Buddhists. A couple weeks ago, Kyunga & her family returned to Korea, so the timing for them to visit a church was perfect!     Marcus has sat down & talked to us at our lit table several times; I don’t know where he is spiritually.     Itchy is a young Christian; his parents aren’t Christians; he continues to attend our church (which we love).     I’m sure that Steve isn’t a Christian.
Â
Last Friday, 3 families came to our home for dinner: WiLLiE & his family (who I mentioned above – on the left side of the pic); FABiANA & her mom (from Chile); ANDRES & his wife, JACKiE (from Colombia – on the far right). We’re not sure that any of them are Christians. (3 of the kids are our grandchildren.)
Â
A couple weeks ago, I initiated a conversation with a Hindu student from India. And he explained: “If a person is good, he will reincarnate to a higher level; if a person is bad, he will reincarnate to a lower level.†I replied: “The Bible says ‘no one does good,’ as we ‘all have sinned.’ And the only way our sins can be forgiven is by Jesus’ blood which He shed on the cross.â€
Â
Last week, I providentially sat near HAZiNG (from Shanghai) in the CU Dining Center; and I initiated, “What are you reading?†He replied, “The Bible / Numbers.†I asked him if he’s a Christian, & he replied: “No.†So I gave specifics as to how Numbers & all of the Bible point to Jesus; Hazing had no idea.
Â
Last week after basketball, NED (who was a lawyer) & I were talking about cancer. And Ned inserted: “You’re a man of God; it seems that God didn’t do too well when He created the (aging) body.†Of course I explained that God created everything perfectly; but after Adam & Eve ate the forbidden fruit, things are no longer perfect.
Â
Nancy is continuing to teach ESL (English as a Second Language) to TUBA. She’s a Muslim from Afghanistan.
