26.8 Boyd’s update earthquake - First Baptist Church

I was getting ready to go to the seminary this morning at 7:34 a. m. when I heard some strange beeping sounds and felt the ground begin to quiver; I went out back and it continued to shake for what seemed a long time. Holly and the boys had gone out front. Here in Tenjo we felt tremors from what would turn out to be the strongest earthquake in Colombia this century.

Thankfully all of our teammates are okay. Pastor Ricardo and his wife Adriana were affected in Cali. Their high-rise apartment was damaged, so they don’t know when they’ll be able to move back in.

Two of our former students, Daniel and Carolina, were getting ready to move this week to Pereira to begin serving full-time in a church plant there. The building where the church was meeting and where they were going to leave was damaged.

Please pray that God would give wisdom to our brothers and sisters in Christ who live in Manizales, Pereira and Cali. Pray also that God would use this tragedy to soften hearts to the gospel, and that the churches would be able to minister effectively to people in need.
