September 2017
Hi First Baptist Church,
Praise and Prayer
We continue to make progress in restoring the lower level of our Mt. Pleasant group home that was damaged by a flood this summer. A professional drywall finisher volunteered his time to help with the drywall finishing. We have also had several work groups come to help with this project. There is a still a long way to go, but we are thankful for the volunteers who are helping restore this home.
Praise! A little girl in one of our Safe Families homes had an infection that caused her to spend the night in the hospital. She recovered well and is back with her Safe Family. We are thankful for an alert host family who called 911 to make sure she got the care she needed.

Praise!

Work on Sarah’s kitchen is well underway. Thank you for giving for the kitchen and to our work groups for their construction help!

In a few weeks, the kitchen should be completely done!

Praise for the Bike-a-Thon!

We are thankful to everyone who participated in Bike-A-Thon 2017!
The Valparaiso, IN Bike-A-Thon had a special speaker – Les Anderson. He told how his father dropped him off with his 2 brothers on the doorstep of one of the group homes in Kouts, Indiana many years ago. He and his brothers grew up in the children’s home, and he expressed his thankfulness for the love John and Lois Mixon (his houseparents) and other staff showed him.
Vital Prayer Request

We are in need of Houseparent couples. Our ministry depends on their care of the children so much, and we are seeking couples who desire a ministry position mentoring children. More houseparents will enable us to care for more children, as well as provide much needed relief to our current houseparents.
Do you know a couple who would make great houseparents?
