“And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.” Matthew 8:26
Thank you to all who have been asking how we are doing down here in Texas as Hurricane Harvey is moving our direction. We spent most of today out and about waiting in lines getting supplies as we were instructed for riding out our first hurricane in Texas. Just to clarify we have not been evacuated that is just the coastal cities. We live 1.5 hours NW of Galveston in Katy, TX (western suburb of Houston).
As of right now, it’s a category 4 and they are saying it’s the biggest in Texas history (and the biggest storm to hit the US in 12 years). We are far away from the eye of the storm and are already hearing the wind, some thunder and it’s raining on and off since this morning; but we are under a tornado watch. Our kids school district cancelled school, banks and libraries closed early. Many gas stations are out of gas already. It’s been more than an interesting day!! Meterologist are saying this will go on until Wednesday because it is so slow moving which will drop a lot of rain (maybe 12 inches of rain here in Houston area but 30 plus inches in other areas). Pray we don’t lose electricity, no flooding and most importantly no loss of life. Â
We have not confirmed in a prayer update the reaching of 100% support because our numbers were different than the mission board’s numbers and some supporters were not confirmed yet. So, we are still in a waiting stage for clearance. Pray we reach 100% soon. Vacation Bible School and canvassing were a success. We appreciate the great help of two girls who came from Massachussetts to help that week; God bless them for their servant’s hearts! Thank you Plainville Baptist for loaning them to us. With God’s help, we have made over 85 contacts with Latinos; meaning we have their names and addresses to go back and invite them personally to our first Spanish Bible studies and ESL classes which will start sometime in September. Your prayers are crucial, as we  reconnect with these people, pray that God will work in hearts; many are interested in these Bible studies and classes.
Two months in Texas and we have already had a few special visitors including Talitha’s mother; what a blessing.
Our four children have already had a full week of classes and are making new friends and plenty of new contacts (we’ve met some parents and look forward to more connections). Pray they will be a bright light in this dark world! We are so proud of our kids and can’t wait to watch God work through them!
Thank you for your prayers, love and support! Dios le bendiga. (God Bless You)

Dario & Talitha Chiesa
