Dear Partners in Ministry,

On the Move in Boston

On May 18, Deb and I returned from China, and we have much to report. In fact, there are way too many interesting and important happenings to tell in one letter, so this one will be a preview of several prayer letters, which will be scheduled to arrive in your inbox over the next couple of months.

July 24: A Baptist Civilization?

In March of this year, it was my privilege to travel to Palestine, where I was hosted by Sami and Firial Barham (Baptist Mid-Missions missionaries). The update next week will report on what I experienced, and on the visionary plans of Brother Barham.

July 31 Thomas is Baptized

Earlier this year, Thomas became a believer and followed the Lord in believer’s baptism. You will hear his story later this month.

August 7 Luke becomes a Christian

Luke lives in Shanghai, and we were able to visit him along with his family when we traveled to China. It was a meaningful time as we sought to confirm our new brother in the faith. You will learn more about Luke the first week of August.

August 14 China is Calling

The trip to China was full of ministry and learning opportunities. Our burden for this country was increased as was our understanding of what effective ministry to China will entail. In mid-August our prayer update will focus on our China trip.

August 21 A New Pastor

As you know, Toby Stevens became the pastor of the International Baptist Church, an orthodox Christian association, earlier this year. On August 21, I hope to more thoroughly introduce you to Toby and his family.

August 28 The Interns

By the time you read the August 28 prayer update, one intern will have returned home,  and two will remain, serving in Boston and learning about city ministry.  More about this in late August.

September 6 Future Ministry

Deb and I are busy preparing for the next faze in the Boston ministry. On September 6, I will share our plans (God’s direction) for the future.

This is Great Commission ministry.

Pray for us,

Bill and Deb

Praise & Prayer
Thankful for a life of ministry

1. Deb and I are very thankful for our co-workers, Toby and Susan Stevens. Toby is now our pastor, even while I remain a mentor of his–an interesting relationship.

2. We are looking forward to a year of reporting to our supporters and raising new support. This will also allow us to spend additional time with Deb’s parents in Iowa.

3. An IBC member recently commented that we have exceptional interns this year. Actually, we have had many excellent interns. We are very thankful to God for His provision.

4. We are indeed thankful for a very busy and productive trip to China.

5. God continues to teach us and equip us for more effective ministry. We love our God and are thankful for the privilege we have of serving Him.

Support Needs

Monthly Support
We need more than $1,000.00 a month of new support. Since the IBC has called a new pastor, they have ceased to support Deb and me. In addition, we will need more money for ministry expenses (the IBC paid a large portion of this). In order to care for this need, we will be reporting back to our supporting churches throughout this coming fall and next spring. Please contact me if you would like to schedule a meeting this fall or in the spring of 2018.

There is obviously room for new supporters to join us in this blessed ministry. Would you consider getting the word out to any Great Commission Christians who might be interested in joining our financial team?

Actually, we are not alarmed about our lack of support. Having experienced God’s provision for 40 years, we, with excitement, look for His provision.
