July 2017

To Our Prayer Force,

Thank you for your faithful prayers. They’re powerful, and they’re working (James 5:16)!

Please continue to pray for (unsaved) KEERA who, along with her twins, JUN & KATE, attended our Bible Studies & Church over the past year & a half. (See attached pic.) Now they’re back in Korea & Keera recently emailed, “I missed your church and your clear speech and Bible study having hospitality. I thought it would be great if you can come [to Korea] and give service. We are going to visit another church soon and decide where to go.”

In a previous prayer letter we asked you to pray for DORIS. She’s a Buddhist from China & has attended several of our Bible Studies; And Nancy was helping her with her medical vocabulary. Well, this summer Doris passed her medical test, so now she can pursue medical college here in the U.S. Please pray with us, that God’s kindness will lead Doris to repentance (Rom. 2:4). Over the summer Nancy has also been helping AISHA (a Muslim) with her English, & our Divine Conductor has orchestrated several witnessing opportunities!

Over the past year I’ve become friends with JOHN who is on staff at CU. He recently told me that he asked his Catholic priest to do a funeral service for his stepfather. But his Catholic priest told him that, because his stepfather wasn’t a Catholic, he couldn’t do a funeral service. So John asked me, & I replied “Sure, I’ll do the service” (on August 12th). Last week John asked me, “What’s the difference between Catholics & Protestants?” I then read John 3:16 & later explained, “Grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.”

For well over a year, we’ve asked you to pray for the salvation of BEN who has bantered with us for hours at our literature table. This past Sunday he visited our church for the first time. (He’s only attended a church 3 times in his life.) The preaching was (as always) Christocentric – specifically, about “a stone of stumbling” (1 Pet. 2:8). While listening attentively, Ben uniquely & visibly reacted.

A week ago C.J. told me that she’s working on staff with her Catholic Church. When I talked about the Reformation, she submitted that the Catholic Church had been in disarray & needed to be reformed. But I clarified, “The Reformation emphasized that salvation was by grace alone; Our sins are washed away by Jesus’ blood, not baptism, good works, etc.”

I recently met 2 students, AARON & CHARLES, who are transferring to CU. Charles’ major is philosophy, & he’s planning to take “Religious’ Studies” classes. (You may recall that I’ve audited some “Religious Studies” classes. On one occasion, the teacher said that Joseph, because he said “no” to Potiphar’s wife, is “The Queer Hero of the Old Testament.”) But rather than being pejorative, I talked to Charles (& his father) about how the Bible answers life’s sine qua non questions (such as “Where did I come from?” “Why am I here?” “Where am I going?”) in a simply profound & profoundly simple way….

Over the past year we’ve been discipling CHINGWA who is a young Christian. (Her husband, YE, is not a Christian.) This past Friday Chingwa invited us to her apartment along with CHUNLI (who is not a Christian) & her son, LEO, with whom Nancy has been having Bible Studies (along with JINGYU & TINA). Chingwa also continues to invite students to our Friday Night Bible Study – such as (unsaved) ZAIWEN, who came to the U.S. 6 weeks ago, & XINGUO who came here only 2 weeks ago. Chingwa also invited us to a picnic this Saturday – at the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

This Friday thousands of parents & their kids will be visiting CU for orientation. We’re planning to “Table” in the Student Union.

On August 1st, upperclassmen will move into their apartments; In a couple weeks, summer school will be over. Shortly thereafter 33,000 pop culture, intexticated students will blitzkrieg “The Peoples’ Republic of Boulder.” We can hardly wait! But we would love to have help. We recently asked a young lady, Alyson, if she would help us; And she’s praying about it!

With the goal of providing an oasis of knowledge in a desert of spiritual ignorance,

Tom, Nancy & Chelsea Miller
