Dear Praying Friends,

Â

We’re enjoying the beginning of this 2nd semester, as our sovereign God continues to open doors for us to take the “eternal Gospel to every nation and tribe and language and people” (Rev. 14:6).

Â

Seven years ago, DANDAN (from China) attended our English class. She & her husband, DAWEi, invited us to their apartment, they visited our church several times, etc. (And we asked you to pray for them.) Dandan was very interested in spiritual things; but Dawei finished his PhD, & they moved to Princeton, N.J. Last week, Dandan emailed us & told us that she’s getting baptized! (How encouraging, as campus ministry is a lot of “planting” as well as praying that others will “water,” though it’s “only God who gives the growth” – 1 Cor. 3:7.) Please pray that Dandan will “walk in newness of life” (Rom. 6:4) – & that her husband & kids will also want to follow Jesus.

Just a few of the many people who talked to us, these first couple weeks, at our literature table include:

1) BLAISE – when I asked him if he knew how to answer the question that we were displaying, [“Do you know how to get to heaven?”], he replied, “No.” So I explained our [Jesus is the] “Bridge” tract & showed him John 3:16 & Eph. 2:8,9. Later, he asked, “If you had been born in a Muslim country, would you be a Muslim?” I told him, “Yes,” but I would have to ask myself, “Why is Islam the true religion?” – just like I asked myself when I was in high school, “Why is Christianity the true religion?”

Â

2) OSCAR – acknowledged the problems of his (& Hitler’s) subjective morality, but he prefers to believe in his subjective morality rather than in a God who, alone, possesses the authority to objectively define “morality.” When we talked about origins, Oscar postulated that math may have started the universe.

Â

3) ZACH – recognized me from playing basketball at the CU Rec. I gave him a [Jesus is the] “Bridge” tract; and I told him about our Bible study, & he said that he might show up.

Â

4) AMiR - was a Muslim until several months ago, when he became a Christian (though he hasn’t told his parents who live in Iran). Please pray that he’ll “continue in the faith” (Acts 14:22).

Â

5) A lawyer & a doctor – (As I dialogued w/ them, I “loved” them – Mark 10:21.) The lawyer led, “I’m an agnostic.” To which I replied, “We don’t have to be agnostic about anything that God has revealed to us in His Word, the Bible. Specifically, I’m so thankful that I - know – that Jesus loves me sooo much that He died on the cross for my sins.” Recognizing that she had been “checkmated,” the lawyer quickly deferred to her husband who then argued, “All that really matters is that we love one another.” To which I kindly countered, “But Jesus commanded that we love God & our neighbor. Later, they both claimed that they believed in Jesus. So I asked them if they believed that Jesus is the only way to God. After they replied, “No,” I replied: “Then you don’t believe in the Jesus of the Bible, b/c Jesus audaciously claimed: ‘I am the way….’”

Â

6) (Unsaved) CAM – sat down (again) & told me that he’s taking another class on philosophy – & gender. So I told him that God created people “male & female” (Gen. 1:27). And I told him that I love that (only) God can objectively define “gender,” whereas humans can only subjectively define “gender.”

Last Friday night, (unsaved) ANDRES (from Colombia) attended our English class, Bible study & dinner (again) – as did JAIR (from Mexico) & his wife, FABIANA (from Chile), who are professing Christians. All 3 of them have visited our church once. In the pic, Andres is under the light; his wife, JACKiE is on the far left. The other couple are Jair & Fabiana. (Unsaved) JOSH is on the far right; he’s an obnoxious Iowa State fan. Boo!

Â

At senior basketball, I’ve been talking to RALPH who is Jewish & is an avid reader. Yesterday, he initiated, “Tom, tell me 1 Bible verse.” So I quoted Genesis 1:1. And I told him that the Hebrew name for God, “Elohim,” is plural, yet it’s construed w/ a singular verb – which tells us there’s only 1 God, yet there’s a plurality, i.e., a Trinity!” Ralph’s response was great: “That first verse says a lot!”

Â

Thank you for praying!!!
