Dear Praying Friends,

Â

Thanks, in part, to your prayers – our sovereign God continues to open doors for us to take the “eternal Gospel to every nation and tribe and language and people” (Rev. 14:6). Some examples include:

Â

While waiting for a bus, I saw a student wearing a sweatshirt w/ the word, “Prague” on it. So I asked her if she was from Prague. She replied, “No, but my boyfriend is.” So I told her about the huge Jon Hus memorial that is in Prague as Jon was burned at the stake for his faith in Jesus. She said that she would ask her boyfriend & her boyfriend’s grandmother who lives in Prague.

Â

When we displayed the question (at our literature table), “Do you know how to get to heaven?” – 3 students stopped & asked us how to get to heaven! On a different day, we were displaying the same question. And ARiA told us that she had recently confessed her sins at a Catholic church, so she thinks that her sins are forgiven. Nancy shared her testimony & John 3:16 – & invited her to our main Bible study.

Â

CARSON told me that he’s a Christian & that he believes in evolution. (His grandfather was an evolutionary anthropologist.) He told me that he doesn’t go to church, so I invited him to our church.

Â

A man from Denmark read both of the questions & walked on by. But, later, he returned & said, “I’ve heard of ‘Intelligent Design,’ but I’ve never read anything about it.” He then took 3 of our tri-folds.

Â

JAMES was raised Catholic & is convinced that we’re all the children of God. I told him that only people who believe in Jesus are God’s children. I also told him: “I’m a Christian now;” but that was too much for him to swallow.

Â

TOM told us that he’s an atheist & asked us questions about the circular argument (“The Bible is the Word of God, b/c it says it’s the Word of God”), Young Earth, predestination, etc. After a half hour, he said that he had been raised Mormon. I then explained why I’m not a Mormon. My concern is that Tom is throwing the baby (true Christianity) out w/ the bathwater (Mormonism).

After RENA told us that she’s Jewish, I showed her Zech. 12:10 “They will look on Him who they pierced.” I then kindly argued that Jesus’ hands & feet were “pierced” & that Jesus fully qualified to be the Messiah.Â

Â

(Unsaved) CAM continues to sit w/ us at our table. Recently, after discussing ethics, specifically, the divine command theory & relativism, Cam admitted that having a God who would tell him what’s right vs. wrong would have more weight than his conscience deciding right vs. wrong. Later, Cam also acknowledged, “I’m old enough to settle down.”

Every week, AMiR sits w/ us. He was a Muslim until only a few months ago, when he became a Christian (though he hasn’t told his parents). Please pray that he’ll “continue in the faith” (Acts 14:22).

Â

God also continues to open doors for me to witness to older men at senior basketball. For example, MARSH fouled me, & I teased him, “That was a flagrant foul.” … A week later, Marsh told me that God had forgiven him. I then asked Marsh if God has forgiven his true sins. He replied, “I’m starting off, asking forgiveness for my light sins.” Soon, I want to ask Marsh if he knows what the ultimate, flagrant sin that we’ve all vicariously committed is (i.e., crucifying Jesus).     A little later, NED asked me where I worked. I told him that I’m a campus minister & that college students, i.e., everyone has to answer life’s sine qua non questions: Where did I come from? Why am I here? & Where am I going? Ned replied, “I have yet to know why I’m here.” I told him that Jesus answered that q w/ an economy of words: “Love God & neighbor.” Ned replied, “For decades, I was a trial lawyer, & simple answers are always the best.”     A couple weeks ago, BRUCE (who is Jewish) asked me what I did at CU. I replied, “For one, I frequently sit at a table in the Student Union where I display questions such as, “How do we know that God exists?” Bruce then asked, “Have your views evolved over the decades?” To which I replied, “Not really – in that I believe that the Bible is God’s Word, & it never changes.” Bruce replied, “I’d like to follow up.”

Â

Nancy continues to do weekly Bible studies with moms & their kids who all listen very attentively: MIJI & her kids, SOYOON & UCHEN; KYUNGA & her kids, HAJUN & CHLOE; SOYOUNG & her son, JUCHAN; and JUN who told his mom that he would rather listen to Nancy’s Bible stories (at 6am Korean time on Saturday mornings) than play video games. Please pray that God’s Word will work powerfully in the aforementioned who are all from S. Korea.     Three weeks ago, as Nancy was teaching “English as a Second Language,” AYAKO & YOSHIKO (both from Japan) asked why we celebrate Easter which led to a pristine witnessing opportunity!

Â

Last week, a former student, XUMiNG, graciously hosted us where he lives in Hawaii. Please pray that God will work in his life. Xuming’s friend, KALEI Purdy (&, yes, she’s a relative of the 49ers Q.B.) is into holistic medicine big time; it’s effectively her god. We repeatedly tried to explain how our physical health is very important; but what ultimately matters is our spiritual health….

Â

While at The Big Island, Nancy & I visited a Dalai Lama Sanctuary. While there, (while also attempting to disciple Xuming), we asked BARBARA (a lady who worked there), “What does the Dalai Lama think about Jesus?” Barbara was quick to sincerely reply, “The Dalai Lama accepts all religions; he urges all people to be good in order to atone for one’s sins.” I then kindly replied, “The Bible says, ‘no one is good…’”. Nancy later quoted Jesus, “ … no one comes to the Father except thru Me.”

Seven years ago, DANDAN (from China) attended our English class. She & her husband, DAWEi, also visited our church several times. After Dawei finished his PhD, they moved to Princeton, N.J. This past Sunday, Dandan got baptized, & she emailed us a video of her testimony & baptism! Please pray that she’ll “walk in newness of life” (Rom. 6:4) – & that her husband & kids will also want to follow Jesus.

Â

Please continue to pray for those who attend our Friday night Bible study: (unsaved) WiLLiE & his wife, RUTH, & their kids, PAULA & MATiA (from Bolivia), (unsaved) ANDRES (from Colombia), JAIR (from Mexico) & his wife, FABiANA (from Chile) & their son, ELiAB, and (saved) DAGANG & SANGHAO & their daughter, COCO, (from China), ITCHY (from China) & CHUAN (from Singapore).

Â

Thank you for praying!!!
