Â

Dear Praying Friends,

Â

Are you ready for – another cycle? You pray for us … students talk to us … we rehearse our conversations – [w/ the hope & prayer that you will then share the Gospel w/ people who “happen” (Acts 17:17) to be in your life] … you pray for us….

Â

Some of our conversations include:

Â

HENRY stopped by our Table & argued against original sin. Later, he told us that he’s a Mormon … & that everyone is going to heaven … & that our religions are just a little different. I countered, “‘everyone going to heaven’ is contradictory to the many verses that teach ‘eternal damnation.’”

Â

Later, KAULDAHN stopped by & said he’s Catholic, & he believes that all religions are basically the same. So I contrasted Islam & Christianity, & he concurred. In time, I showed him Eph. 2:8,9 & kindly argued for “Faith Alone.” He replied, “That’s very interesting.” Kauldahn then asked if I believed in “Scripture alone.” I replied, “Yes, & I surely wouldn’t want the previous Pope to be an Authority, who, when asked about homosexuality, replied: ‘Who am I to judge?’” Finally, Kauldahn asked, “How do you know Jesus lived?” I answered, “1) The Bible tells me so; 2) Jesus has lived in me for 60+ years.”

Â

Later, HENRY stopped by & said that he’s Catholic. I explained our [Jesus is the] “Bridge” tract, read John 3:16 & Eph. 2:8,9, etc. He found it “interesting.”

Â

Soon after we

set up our Table, AUSTIN stopped & said that he was looking for a church!

Â

Later, SAMiRA told us that her dad is from Tunisia, & he’s a Muslim; her mom is from Asia, & she’s a Buddhist; Samira is an atheist. So I kindly argued against Islam, Buddhism & atheism; & I kindly argued for Theism & Christianity.Â

Â

Later, 3 high school kids talked to us. 1 of the girls [I don’t know her name] asked if she could take a “Suicide” brochure. I then kindly argued: “I have no right to take the image of God from anyone else, & I have no right to take the image of God from myself.” 1 of the boys inserted, “Atheists don’t image God.” I kindly countered, “But they do. God thinks – atheists think; God feels – atheists feel; God chooses – atheists choose. Everyone images God in a way that no one else can.” I also shared the Gospel.

Â

Later, MAMOON (a Muslim from Bangladesh) asked, “What are the similarities between Islam & Christianity?” I listed 4, & he agreed. I then listed a couple dissimilarities, & he agreed. I then kindly argued, “The Koran wasn’t written until A.D. 600, & I believe that the Bible was God’s Word from its inception in 1500 B.C. through today.”

Â

Later, a student from China said that he may be interested in visiting our church. I explained our [Jesus is the] “Bridge” tract, & he took it w/ him.

Â

Later, COOPER told me that he’s Jewish, & he asked me if I’m on Israel or Palestine’s side. I replied, “I’m cautiously on Israel’s side, b/c the Bible says, “I will bless those who bless” [Israel]. I also told Cooper that, in the future: “all the nations of the earth will gather against” [Israel]; & Israel “will look on [the Messiah] who they pierced” (Zech. 12:3)….

Â

Later, GRADY said that he’s a Christian. But when I asked where he attended church, he replied: “A person doesn’t have to go to church in order to be a Christian. I kindly replied, “But if a person doesn’t attend a church, there’s reason to wonder if he’s a Christian … & ‘Birds of a feather, flock together.’” I invited him to our Friday night Bible study & church.

Â

Later, PAUL DiDUCH (professor of Philosophy of Science, Ethics, etc.) kindly argued for a metaphorical interpretation of Genesis. Later, I asked Paul what his religious affiliation was, & he replied: “I’m a conflicted Catholic.” So I showed him Eph. 2:8,9, (& I pointed to my handout, “The Council of Trent”) & I kindly argued that “Faith Alone” is foundational.

Â

Later, DANNY told me that he’s a Christian & proceeded to ask a litany of questions. I asked him if he attends a church, & he replied: “No, b/c the churches I’ve visited are Health & Wealth.” So, (b/c he commutes from Aurora), I encouraged him to visit Airport Blvd. Baptist Church, (which supports us), & he said that he would visit.

Â

Later, CAROLiNE sat down & told us she’s in Evolutionary Biology. I told her that YANA, (who is a Christian from Kazakhstan; Nancy & I are having a Bible study w/ her), is also in Evolutionary Biology, & Caroline knows who Yana is! Later, Caroline legitimized gay marriage, so I showed her Rom. 1:23, which she wasn’t aware of. (When Caroline was young, her dad died; & her friend died in the recent flood at Camp Mystic in TX.)

Â

While talking to Caroline, MATT told us that he’s a Christian, & he’s interested in Bible study & a church.

Â

The next day, ZOE told us that she’s a Religious Studies Major. Not surprisingly, she believes that everyone subliminally believes in Jesus. I told her that Judaism believes that Jesus isn’t the Messiah, but Judaism & Christianity can’t both be true. And Islam doesn’t believe that Jesus died on the cross, but Islam & Christianity can’t both be true. Zoe didn’t know what to say.

Â

The next week, BRAYDEN asked us, “Why should we pray?” I told him that a reason is b/c we’re dependent upon God  – like a child is dependent on his parents & like a sheep is dependent on his shepherd.

Later, TARAK stopped by again; he’s a Muslim from Saudi Arabia. He introduced me to his friend who is a philosophy major. I responded: “I like that philosophy deals w/ life’s sine qua non questions. However, university philosophy discussions end with relative truth, when life’s ultimate questions can only be answered by absolute truth. Fleshed out, in that we all need our sins to be forgiven, we need to believe in Jesus…”.

Â

Later, (a 2nd) BRAYDEN asked, (among other things), about the Bible’s reliability after thousands of years. I responded: “Jesus replied to people, ‘Have you not read [what Moses wrote]?’ Case in point: Jesus believed that what Moses wrote had been preserved for 1500 years & was still authoritative. So, 2k years later, God has still preserved His Word, & it’s still authoritative.” We also invited Brayden to our Friday night Bible study & church. We also explained our [Jesus is the] “Bridge” tract, & he took it w/ him.

Â

The next day, OREN stopped by; he’s from a Jewish background. After talking for a while, Oren told us that he’s planning to come to our Friday night Bible study.

Â

The next week, ELi asked us: “How do you know that God exists?” After giving him several reasons, I told him (b/c his major is Philosophy) what I told Tarak’s friend [above].

Â

Later, DAWSON told us that he had been an evangelical, but now he’s a Mormon. He was quick to talk about baptism, & I countered, “Water can’t wash away anyone’s sins; only Jesus’ blood can.” Dawson also argued that the Mormon Church has Apostolic Authority. So, (based on 2 Cor. 12:12-The signs of a true apostle … signs, wonders & mighty works”), I asked him for evidence, but he had none.

Â

Later, ARiA (along w/ her ?boyfriend, EVAN) asked (possibly w/ a chip on her shoulder): “B/c I had premarital sex, am I going to hell?” 2k years ago, Jesus answered Aria’s q w/ an economy of words: “I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance” (Luke 5:32). I explained our [Jesus is the] “Bridge” tract, & Aria replied, “Very interesting;” & she readily took our tract w/ her.

Â

Later, CARTER told us that he’s an evangelical Christian & is visiting a Catholic Church. So I brought up the topic, “Faith Alone,” & Carter was well aware of what that meant. I invited him to our Friday night Bible study & church.

Â

TRiPP loves to banter. He’s Catholic & argues against “Faith Alone.” Of course, we’ve shown him many verses that say “not of works.”

Â

Several months ago, SANTANU & his wife, PAULAMi visited our church. (They’re Hindus from India.) A couple weeks ago, Nancy & I ate pizza w/ them.Â

Â

Many of you know that I frequently eat at CU Dining. A couple weeks ago, Chinese student, CHiN CHiN was sitting by himself, so I asked if I could sit at his table. I told him that I had been to China. In time, I showed & explained to him my [Jesus is the] “Bridge” tract, & he took it w/ him.

Â

Many of you also know that I play Senior Basketball w/ about 20 unbelievers. Recently, I emailed STEVE who has been very kind to me: “I thought it was sooo cool to hear how you resuscitated the man on the bb court who was effectively dead. I try not to be too obnoxious, but I can’t help but make an analogy / application: Jesus (potentially) resuscitated you; only Jesus didn’t just push on a chest; He was crucified / He shed His blood, which, alone can erase your sins (& my heinous sins) – thereby offering us the opportunity to be ‘resuscitated’ from (spiritual) death to (spiritual) life.”

Â

And now for the highlight of our semester: At the beginning of the semester, FiNDLEY told us that he wasn’t a Christian. But he also told us that he was reading thru the O.T. & was wondering why God hardened Pharaoh’s heart. I replied, “God hardened Pharaoh’s heart, b/c Pharaoh was the king of Egypt; &, in order to ‘show [His] power, so that [His] name would be proclaimed in all the earth’ (Ex. 9:16), God ultimately controlled Pharaoh heart. However, Exodus also says that Pharaoh hardened his own heart.” Only a couple days later, Finley attended our Friday night Bible Study, & he told us that he had placed his faith in Jesus! And he’s continuing to attend our Bible Study – & our church! Driving him to & from church gives Nancy & me added time to disciple Finley – & CHUAN (from Singapore). (See pic.)

Â

This past Friday night, Nancy & I taught John 3:16 to Finley & (unsaved) GO. In China, Go & his wife live w/ a pastor who is controlled by the Chines Comunist Parti [misspelled for security reasons]. At the bottom, I’ll paste my John 3:16 handout. You could print it & give it to & explain it to someone who “happens” (Acts 17:17) to be in your life.

Â

Thanks, in part to your prayers, “a wide door for effective work has opened to [us]” (1 Cor. 16:9),

Tom & Nancy Miller (U of Colorado / Campus Bible Fellowship / Baptist Mid-Missions)

Â

The “Greatest” Verse in the Bible (John 3:16)

Â

  1. The Greatest God Ever Imagined:

“FOR GOD (1) SO LOVED THE WORLD, (2) THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON,

Â

  1. The Greatest Decision Ever Made (Or Not Made):

THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES - IN – [not about] HIM [Jesus]

Â

Who is Jesus? John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word [Jesus], & the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 1:3 All things were made through him…. 1:9 The true light…. 1:14 the Word became flesh … the only Son … full of grace & truth. 1:29 the Lamb of God. 1:34 the Son of God. 1:41 the Messiah / Christ. 3:14 Jesus would be “lifted up” (on a cross … from the dead … into heaven).

Â

  1. The Greatest Danger Ever Averted:

SHOULD NOT PERISH

Luke 13:3,5 [Jesus], “… unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”    Â

John 3:18 [Jesus], “… whoever does not believe is [present tense] condemned already, b/c he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

John 3:36 … the wrath of God remains [present tense] on him.

John 8:24 [Jesus], “… if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”

John 15:6 [Jesus], “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch & is withered; & they gather them & throw them into the fire, & they are burned.”

Â

  1. The Greatest Life Ever Imagined:

BUT HAVE [present tense] ETERNAL LIFE.

  1. John 11:26 [Jesus], “everyone who lives and believes IN Me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Â

Recommended Prayer: “Dear God, thank you for loving me & for giving your only Son to die on the cross for MY sins &, 3 days later, rise from the dead. I want to be born a second time (spiritually / vertically). I now believe IN Jesus; I now receive Jesus into my life. I’m thankful that I won’t perish, but, rather, I have eternal life!”
