A Ministry Update from the Hoffs

January 2026

The closing months of 2025 were eventful for CBM and for us!

  • On October 16 the CBM board of directors voted to call Joshua Putnam to become the next Executive Director! I whole-heartedly support this step and am very encouraged regarding CBM’s future under Joshua’s leadership. With the new Executive Director onboard, I have taken off the “Administrative Director” hat and continue to serve in the role of Director of Church Planting.

  • Ministry travel plans were re-arranged somewhat in late October. Instead of displaying for CBM at a conference and reporting to a supporting church in Wisconsin, I traveled to New York to attend memorial services for a retired CBM church planter. The unexpected change in plans also allowed me to worship with City of Light Baptist Church, CBM church plant in Buffalo.

  • The day following my return to Michigan, Joanne and I left for a quick trip to Connecticut to visit a CBM missionary couple. I am grateful that although Joanne seldom travels with me anymore, she was able to join me for this ministry opportunity.

  • The end of 2025 brought with it the conclusion of Joanne’s employment as part of the CBM office team. We are thankful that someone else is now able to process online giving.

The beginning of 2026 has also been eventful for us.

  • Between Christmas and New Year’s Day, Joanne and I both came down with a virus that laid us low for over a week. Recovery seems to be complete at this point and we are grateful that the respiratory challenges were not severe for Joanne.

  • I was able to keep the re-scheduled meeting with the Wisconsin church on January 4. The following Sunday, I had the privilege of bringing a challenge to missionaries as First Baptist Church of Howard City, Michigan, sent out Joshua and Amy Putnam to serve as Executive Director and wife for CBM. (For the past eleven years, Joshua served as the senior pastor of First Baptist Church where we are members.)

Thank you for partnering with us in this ministry through praying and giving! God is good, all the time!
