A NORMAL MINISTRY WEEK

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

(2 Peter 3:18, ESV)

What is a normal week of ministry like for us? I’ll use this week as an example, since it was similar to other weeks.

Sunday – Holly and I led the worship at the Roca Eterna church in Tabio. We heard God’s word preached and enjoyed the morning.

Monday – Holly worked on some things as treasurer for our field team. I prepped for the week and preached at chapel in the evening.

Tuesday – I taught our third-year students the course “Eschatology and Revelation.” In the afternoon I met with Nicolas M. for a discipleship Bible study. In the evening I went to Tabio with Pastor Nelson and led the Story of Hope Bible study. Pray for the other Nicolas and Hernando, two unbelievers who attend.

Wednesday – I taught Eschatology in the morning and worked on administrative tasks for the seminary in the afternoon. We participated in an online meeting with our church in the evening.

Thursday – I taught Eschatology in the morning, went to Tabio in the afternoon for a discipleship with Diego and Yeimy. I was in on the Intro. to Missions class online in the evening and interpreted for the sermon in student chapel.

Friday – I taught the first-year students in the morning (Oral and Written Expression; see photo below). We are excited to have an excellent group of 15 new students this semester.

GRADUATES

We were blessed to celebrate the first graduations from two of our accredited programs in January. Thirty-one students in total graduated. To God be the glory!

Three students also graduated from the old program. One of these students, Pastor Armando (on the left), began his studies with the seminary 25 years ago, so we celebrated his perseverance and God’s faithfulness in his life.

CULTURAL NOTE

The two worlds in which I’ve lived rarely cross paths, but James Rodríguez, the Colombian team captain, just signed a contract with the Minnesota United soccer club. I’m sure this will put Minnesota on the map for more Colombians!

KIDS’ CORNER

Lucas and Clarissa visited us in December, and we were able to catch up with them and also see some beautiful parts of Colombia. We’re thankful for the way they’ve been able to serve God in their jobs and in our sending church, CrossRoad Baptist Church of Ames, Iowa.

Yours for Colombia and the gospel,

Jonathan, Holly, Marcos, and Jason Boyd

Prayer Requests
