Hope in Action—Multiplied to the Next Generation

We have an encouraging story of hope, resilience, and community in action from our US Ministry team.

A phone call came in from a mother feeling isolated—a call that gave us the opportunity to have a part in changing the trajectory of her life and her child’s life—the heritage she will leave. We are thrilled to share Angela’s story with you.

Angela knew she needed help, but sometimes isolation leaves us with no one on our side anymore. With the wrong influences all around her, Angela needed hope spoken into her life.

Angela reached out to BCH because she knew she needed help. She knew she needed a detox program and a safe place for her son to be cared for while she was in in-patient care.

While Angela stayed committed to her recovery, our US Ministry team supported her through one of our loving Care Families.

What is a Care Family?

A Care Family is like an extended family or friend. They provided loving, essential care for her son in their home, right within their own family living. Our Care Family took her son to church, prayed with him, and showed the love of Christ to him daily.

After Angela completed the hard work in detox, we connected her to a women’s home to continue her recovery. We were Angela’s community as she progressed through her recovery program, step by step.

We supported Angela in every way that we are equipped to do so. We organized regular visits with her son, helped with transportation, and provided referrals for other help she needed.

Support, prayer and community were the recipe for endurance for Angela while she faced the physical healing and built stability she desperately needed.

There is no stopping Angela— while full-time caring for her son in her own apartment, she is now enrolled in college, studying Human Services. Angela wants to give back to other women facing her former situation. Angela desires to help other moms, however she can, take steps to turn their lives around.

We are still cheering Angela on and stay in regular contact with her. In fact, Angela has asked our US Ministry team to professionally mentor her in her educational and professional goals.

When we asked Angela for permission to share her story, she said, “Absolutely! Any way I can give back to the ministry that helped me turn my life around!”

Please remember Angela, her son, and our loving, dedicated Care Families in prayer.

Galatians 6:9

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
