March 23, 2026
In the summer of 2009, as Joanne and I were preparing to begin a new
role with CBM, I recorded in my journal a plan to serve as the director of
church planting for 15 years. When we reached that mile-marker a year
and a half ago, stepping away was not possible. However, recent changes
in several leadership positions at CBM have brought fresh vision and
energy to the ministry, and I am very optimistic about CBM’s future. I am
also convinced that now is time for Joanne and me to conclude active
ministry with CBM.
Our journey as CBM missionaries began in August of 1985 and has
taken us to Lakeland Baptist Church of Iron River, Michigan, Good News
Baptist Church of Sioux City, Iowa, and to the home office of Continental
Baptist Missions in Rockford, Michigan. Each of our ministry
assignments have brought joy and the opportunity to grow in Christ. You
have been a vital part of that journey through your financial and prayer
support and through your personal encouragement—thank you!
We will officially conclude active ministry with CBM on June 30, 2026. At
that point, we will be classified as retired missionaries. It seems much
too early for that designation, but we are excited to see what God will
bring our direction during the next phase of life.
Over the years, God has graciously provided for our needs, and we are
confident that he will continue to provide. While we will need to find an
additional source of income, we do not expect you to continue supporting
us. Many others need your support, and we hope you will consider
redirecting your giving to the CBM general fund or other CBM church
planters.
God is good, all the time!
