April 2026
Dear Praying Friends,
Nancy continues to build friendships with her ESL (English as a Second Language) students. A couple of weeks ago, when Nancy had a Bible study w/ her students on the Crucifixion & Resurrection of Jesus, TUBA(a Muslim from Afghanistan) asked a lot of questions, including, “How did Jesus stay up on the cross?†Her mouth fell open when she found out that they put nails through His hands & feet! Next week, Nancy is planning to meet w/ Tuba to answer more of her questions. Also, b/c JOANNA (from Nicaragua) comes to class early, Nancy meets w/ her for Bible study before the class starts. Please pray for continued open doors of opportunity, as Nancy continues to build friendships w/ her students including LEXI (China), RUBY (Taiwan) & REA (Japan).
In our last Prayer Letter, I told you that I was scheduled to speak at a (Charlie Kirk) Turning Point USA club. My topic was: “Religious Questions that I’m Frequently Asked at CU.†The high school kids interacted the entire hour! One example: while addressing “Evolution†& why Genesis should be interpreted literally, CARTER kindly argued that Jesus’ words, “unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you†(John 6:53) – should also be interpreted literally. Of course, I gave several reasons why those words should be interpreted metaphorically, (for ex., “life†isn’t literal, it’s spiritual; cf. 6:63, etc.). At the end, I gave one of our [Jesus is the] “Bridge†tracts to each of the dozen Catholic, Mormon & Evangelical students. Afterwards, LUCAS told me that he may attend CU this fall, & that he’ll look for me in the Student Union!
Some of the conversations that we had at our lit tables include:
JASON told us that his parents are Catholic. I explained our [Jesus is the] “Bridge†tract, & he took it w/ him. Later, ARMOND asked about the question we were displaying. After I answered the question, I explained our [Jesus is the] “Bridge†tract. Later, COLiN started off by bemoaning Zionists’ goals, wealth, etc. I told him that, whereas 98% of Jews don’t believe that Jesus is the Messiah, someday, Israel will “look on†the one they “pierced†(Zech. 12:10; cf. Rom. 11). I also explained our [Jesus is the] “Bridge†tract. Later, BROCK stopped by again, & I invited him, again, to visit our church.Â
IZZY is a PhD student in robotics. Her father is a Buddhist, & she wants to believe her dad & Buddha before she wants to believe that she’ll “die in [her] sins†(John 8:24). I told her that Buddha was an imperfect man, whereas Jesus is the perfect God-man. Izzy then said that she has read the Bible, so I encouraged her to keep reading the Bible & to ask God to help her know the truth. Later, I told (unsaved) Engineering (robotics) Prof, TOM, (at senior basketball), about Izzy’s & my conversation – that Jesus is “better†(throughout Hebrews) than any alternative! For example, Buddha can’t raise my mom from the dead, whereas Jesus can & will….
BRENDAN told me that he – was – Evangelical, but that he would be getting confirmed Catholic in a few days. After I talked about “justification†being instantaneous, not at the end of one’s life, Brendan kindly argued that he didn’t think that there was much difference. So, I showed him my handout entitled, “The Council of Trent†(which “anathematizes†“faith aloneâ€); & he replied, “I’m not a theologian.†I also talked about being “born again,†& Brendan replied: “I read John 3 this morning.†So, I concluded by encouraging him to continue to read the Word & to ask God to enable him to understand it correctly. Later, when Finley was sitting w/ us, Finley’s math teacher, SAMi (from India), providentially stopped & asked, “What’s this about?†So, I showed him our [Jesus is the] “Bridge†tract. I assume that he’s a Hindu.
ROBiN told us that he was raised Catholic, but that he’s now agnostic. I showed him John 3:16 (which we always display at our table). & I showed him our [Jesus is the] “Bridge†tract, & he asked if he could take it w/ him! A minute later, OWEN (an atheist) talked briefly; a month ago, he talked to us for a long time about the problem of evil, Biblical prophecies, etc. Later, PROF CHRIS initiated saying “hi.†(A few weeks ago, he brusquely told us that religious orgs shouldn’t be allowed to be on campus.) Later, KATE told us that she’s a Christian & attends Young Life. We talked for 20 minutes, & then I asked her where she goes to church. Kate replied, “St. Thomas Aquinas.†So, I showed her John 3:16, Eph. 2:8,9, our [Jesus is the] “Bridge†tract, etc.
You may remember that, b/c the Student Union is under construction, we’ve been tabling in the Engineering building. This Friday, the Engineering seniors will be displaying their senior projects in an indoor football arena. Along w/ one of our grandsons, we’re planning to interact w/ some of the seniors, & we’re hoping to providentially bump into some of the students who have talked to us at our table.
A highlight of our year: FiNLEY was baptized at our church! (He was saved in August.) Finley’s unsaved friend, COLE, also rode to church w/ us to see Finley get baptized. After Nancy & I dropped the students off, we ate at a CU dining center, & we providentially saw & ate w/ SANTANU & PAULAMi (who are Hindus from India). (A few months ago, they visited our church & came to our home for dinner.) We told them that Easter is coming up, & we told them (again) that Easter is all about Jesus rising from the dead, & that God will raise everyone who believes in Jesus (in stark contrast to reincarnation).
A couple years ago, we met Yi at our lit table, & she frequently sits w/ us at our table. A year ago, a teacher, Sharon, at a Christian high school told us that a couple unsaved girls in her class were from Vietnam. Nancy & I then told Sharon about Yi who is also from Vietnam & was saved at a Christian high school. A couple weeks ago, Sharon asked us for Yi’s contact info, &, today/Wednesday, Sharon is going to record Yi’s testimony; & Sharon is going to share Yi’s testimony w/ her class!
(You may have already seen the pic), last week, Chelsea (our 4th daughter) gave birth to adorable HALLiE & LiNCOLN; so, Nancy & I have 2 more potential, long term disciples! Just one drawback: Nancy is already prioritizing the twins over me. It’s a good thing that I epitomize, “low maintenance husband!â€
With the Goal of Making Disciples Who Will Make Disciples,
Tom & Nancy Miller (U of Colorado / Campus Bible Fellowship / Baptist Mid-Missions)
