Introduction: The itinerary for the first of four training sessions for Iranian Christian leaders has been finalized. The flight to Sulaymaniyah will depart from Atlanta on September 9th at 7PM and arrive in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, at 3:30AM on September 11th. Lord willing, I will return to Atlanta at 4:00PM on September 23.

Purpose: To mentor Iranian church leaders in Christian living, mission, evangelism, and church planting. It is a young church in need of training. The ministry in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, has enlisted our help.

Pray Warriors Needed: There are some risks involved.

A Conversion

As you may know, the Iraqi militias, many of which are Iranian proxies, have been active in Iraq. Recently, a member of one of the Iraqi militias came to church in Sulaymaniyah with his wife and children. The family loved the church fellowship, and the father became a believer. This tells us two things: 1) God is at work even within the Iraqi militia. 2) The Iraqi militia, Iran’s proxies, is active in Sulaymaniyah. Prayer for safety is needed, as is intercession for others within the Iraqi militia, that they would also believe in the Savior. I covet the opportunity to participate in such encounters.  We need intercessory prayer.

Financial Supporters Needed:

Iranian Leadership Mentoring

The budget for the four training sessions to be held over the next year is $108,409.00. At this point, we have raised more than $38,000.00. We need $70,000.00. You can read the full ministry proposal, including the budget, by clicking the  Ministry Proposal link. Please pray for us.

Personal Monthly Support

Deb and I need personal financial support. We continue to labor for the Lord with joy and determination. As the Scripture says, “a laborer is worthy of his hire” (1Timothy 5:18). We are not concerned; our God has supplied our every need for over 50 years now. He will continue to do so. Would you pray about becoming a monthly supporter of InterGlo Ministries?

Subscribers

I have fixed my subscribers’ problem, which I detailed over the last couple of days. Those who have been receiving prayer letters by MailChimp are now all subscribed to Bill’s Blog. This will save money, as we will no longer need MailChimp. It also saves time. We now have between 400 and 450 subscribers, most of whom have been praying for us for many years. You are our co-laborers, whom we do not take for granted. We love you.

Why

Some ask, Why do you do this at your age? Why go to dangerous places? The answer is simple and not heroic.

Scripture

Matthew 28:18  And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19  “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20  teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (NASB)

Comment: The command is to make disciples of all nations, and the first step is “going.” It really is that simple. The Apostles obeyed the go command until death took them. The Apostle Paul did the same, and he taught that we should follow his example. There is a battle for the souls of men, raging across the globe. He has enlisted us in His service. What a privilege!

More Prayer Requests

1) I am preparing notes for my courses to be taught in Iraq. It is a pouring out of what God has taught me (over 50 years) in the classroom and in day-to-day ministry into organized notes covering Christian living, Mission, Evangelistic Ministry, and Church Planting. These notes will need to be understood across cultures. I need your prayers.

2) Don’t laugh at me. I am preparing physically by working out regularly and intensely. This includes training in Krav Maga self-defense and in rock climbing. It seems wise to do this when traveling to a country full of Iranian proxy militias and in a place where the mountains have often served as a refuge. I know I’m 71, but one does what one can 🙂  Please do pray for me.

We need your prayers and financial support as we join our Savior in building the Iranian body of Christ.

Let’s do this!
