GREAT IS HIS FAITHFULNESS

“For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD!” (Ps. 117:2 ESV)

God has been faithful over the last two months! This year we began to offer the “Biblical Leadership program” for our online students, so it was the hardest semester for me because of the added course load. As I mentioned in our last prayer letter I struggled with insomnia, but I felt like the last two weeks were the best of the semester. It was especially rewarding to teach new students. For example, Camilo, from Medellin, took my eschatology course online as a Diplomado (a diploma course), and he was stretched and learned a great deal.

I mention Camilo because he came to Christ through the ministry of our teammates in Medellin, and now we have the privilege of teaching him from a distance in Bible and theology. He is just one of example of many!

ROCK OF AGES BAPTIST CHURCH

Since moving to Tenjo almost two years ago, we have been blessed to serve in the Iglesia Bautista Roca Eterna (Rock of Ages Baptist Church) in Tabio, a church plant started in March 2024 by Pastor Daniel and Pastor Nelson, their families and several other believers. It has been thrilling to see how God has added to his church over these two years.

Last Sunday we started the process of organizing the church membership with 27 members. In Colombia, a necessary step is to receive official recognition from the government to be a church, if we want to have a bank account and do things in the best way. Please pray about this, as it often takes a number of months to get all of the documents in order to begin the process.

We live in Tenjo; serve in Roca Eterna in Tabio,

and the study is being held in Zipaquirá.

It was also encouraging to hear last week of a group that has started meeting in Zipaquirá, a city of about 165,000 an hour to the north. One of our sister churches in Bogotá has begun the study, and up to 50 people have been meeting. As church leadership we are talking about how we can support this future church plant by traveling there once a month to teach. This is exciting news for me, as I had traveled to Zipaquirá almost 20 years ago praying about the possibility of serving there.

CULTURAL NOTE

A good take in English on the first round of the elections can be found at “REACTION: Colombia Heads Toward a Polarizing Runoff” by Americas Quarterly.
