Holding the Rope #3 Prayer Letter #2

This is a summary of my response to James regarding yesterday’s prayer letter. See the full “from the heart response” on Bill’s Blog.

God has prepared Deb and me to share the gospel cross-culturally. No one can make a person believe, but you can help them know what it means to believe. InterGlo flows out of our calling to share the gospel globally.

I hesitated to travel to Nepal, but Deb, Erickson Baske, and my son, Dave, convinced me to accept Erickson’s invitation to serve with him in Nepal. We will minister to the infant church in rural Nepal, share the gospel with those who have not yet believed, and participate in a baptism. As you know, we will travel to areas where there has never been a missionary—Wow!

What is happening in Nepal is a global phenomenon. Multitudes are turning to Christ, but they have almost nothing in the way of Christian nurturing. As the Lord leads, God has placed in our hearts a desire to join the Savior in training indigenous leaders globally. We are doing so in Nepal and Kurdistan. The future, Lord willing, will include both online and in-person training.

A word about “going down into the pit.” Many have asked, “Are these areas not dangerous?” The places I visit aren’t. But two things: 1) Since when has the church been exempt from danger while proclaiming the gospel? Paul was often in danger. He told us to follow his example, as did our Savior. 2) On my first trip to Kurdistan, I became very ill, and on my second trip, my hip needed to be replaced. Yet, God has made me so that I embrace the adventure of it all. So, it doesn’t feel like much of a sacrifice. Instead, it is a joy.

Okay, that is our heart and calling. Now, for our needs, or ways you could “Hold the rope.” I have never had someone say anything quite like that, James. You are such a blessing.

  1. Stay Informed: Sign up for our Bill’s Blog. Doing so will keep you informed. Just click on Subscribe to Bill’s Blog and then confirm it in the email sent to you.
  2. Pray for Health: I am 71, Deb is 39 :). We are asking the Lord for wisdom and discipline to serve Him vocationally until the age of 90, if the Lord tarries.
  3. Give to Special Projects: We have received around $2,000.00 for the Nepal trip, which will cost $6,000.
  4. Support InterGlo Monthly: Our expenses will increase as I travel more, produce the required books translated into other languages, and as the online training platform expands. It is exciting as God is forming a new support network.

I want to finish by saying that needs always seem overwhelming, but the provision is always there. This has been the case for 50 years of serving the Lord. We are excited to see the Lord’s provision and to have new co-laborers, holding the rope. Actually, we are more financially secure than ever before, which may say more about where we have been than where we are now : ).

You can send your financial support by sending a check to the address at the bottom of this page or by going to InterGlo.org and clicking on the donate button.

We love you,

Bill and Deb Dear
